Day 2 of our Niagara Wine Tasting Tour began with a complimentary breakfast at On the Twenty.

This is kind of embarrassing but I ate almost everything in this basket except for one croissant and one scone. Sometimes I’m so good at moderation and other times I do ridiculous things like eat an entire basket of pastries. *sigh*

Our next course was a smoked salmon hash topped with a soft boiled egg and hollandaise sauce. I also had some yogurt and granola. After our breakfast of champions, we explored the main strip in Jordan then checked out of our hotel and headed to the Upper Canada Cheese Company.

Obviously, we made a beeline for the free samples counter.

We left with a nice chunk of Niagara Gold. From their website:
“Semi-soft and golden, Niagara Gold cheese is the Upper Canada cheese’s homage to the washed rind French cheeses of the Loire valley, mimicking the earthy flavors of hazelnuts and butter. The Comforts’ head of guernsey cows (one of only two herds in Canada) are well adapted to cold Canadian winters, and they make an extremely rich milk that produces an excellent cheese for serving alongside Ontario fruit, nuts, wines and preserves.”

A shot of their storage fridge. This might be what Heaven looks like.

Next up was a trip to Colaneri Estate Winery in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The winery is currently under construction so we didn’t get any exterior shots but here are a couple of the inside.

We picked up yet another bottle of Riesling. We probably didn’t need a third bottle but the service here was excellent and we would’ve felt bad leaving without buying a bottle. Besides, it was also only $10 for both of us to do a tasting and we were given plenty of samples so we figured an extra $6 for a full bottle was no big deal.
For our last stop, we returned to Vineland Estates to eat lunch. We sat on the patio where we had a gorgeous view of the vineyards.

For lunch, we shared a meat and cheese platter and grilled flatbread topped with goat cheese, tomato and duck confit.

Perfect way to end a perfect getaway! This was definitely one of our most enjoyable anniversaries
