This Is It

I had my first half-marathon-related anxiety dream last night. Basically, it involved me oversleeping and scrambling to get my stuff together in time for my 7:40 start time. It reminded me of this Seinfeld episode:

*sigh* I miss Seinfeld!

The funny thing is, waking up on time is the thing I’m least worried about. Not to jinx myself, but I really can’t forsee myself ever oversleeping and missing anything. I have a pretty reliable internal alarm clock (a la Kramer!) and typically wake up about ten minutes before my real alarm goes off. My main source of anxiety right now is the weather – some forecasters are predicting rain tomorrow and to this day I have never gone for a run in the rain.

Other than that, I’m feeling good about tomorrow. Last week’s 18 kilometre run was a success and since then I’ve been eating really well, getting lots of quality sleep and taking extra rest days from the gym.

As for today, I tried to eat as healthy as possible but things got off to a shaky start. I went to a breakfast diner with Josh, my sister and her husband and tried to be healthy by ordering the vegetarian wrap. I ended up getting this greasy hot mess of a platter:

I only ate half of the wrap and none of the hash brown but I still felt gross and uncomfortably full after. You can’t really see it in the picture but the wrap was sooo greasy – definitely not an ideal pre-race meal but I tried to redeem myself by eating clean the rest of the day - chicken breast and chickpea salad for lunch, pasta and tomato sauce for dinner and lots of healthy snacks in between.

After breakfast, Josh went with me to pick up my race kit:

There wasn’t anything really worth blogging about in the swag bag but at least this year’s T-shirt is cute. Last year, when I did the 10K, the T-shirts we got were white, mustard yellow and maroon – ick!

The rest of the day was pretty relaxed. I did my grocery shopping, took a nap and watched a movie. My exciting Saturday night plans involve reading and going to bed! Woohoo!
