I’m so glad it’s Monday. I don’t say that often but after working all weekend, today is officially the halfway point of my 12 day work week. Thankfully, Josh took care of all of our errands and chores over the weekend so at least I have food and clean clothes for the week.
He also randomly decided to bake cornbread on Saturday while I was working. Coming home to the smell of freshly baked bread was definitely one of the highlights of my day. I’m gonna be snacking on this all week!

Actually, I ate a lot of my amazing food on Saturday and Sunday. I was working at my work’s trade show and a lot of exhibitors were giving out free food samples. I was working in the exhibitors’ lounge and exhibitors kept dropping in to deliver me treats – soft serve ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato, smoothies. There was also an endless supply of pizza, donuts, muffins, cookies, etc.
I avoided going overboard by only eating what I really wanted to eat. The soft serve ice cream was good but nothing special so I ate a few spoonfuls to be polite and tossed it after the exhibitor left. The frozen yogurt, however, tasted amazing and since the company that provided it isn’t open in my part of the country yet, I knew I wouldn’t have a chance to eat it again for awhile, so I ate most of it. I avoided the baked goods altogether – who wants to eat stale donuts and muffins when there’s better stuff available?
Speaking of freebies, I also ended up leaving the trade show with four passes to the Clarity Centre, which works out perfectly because my 30 class Groupon there had just expired. I see a few more kettebell classes in my future.
After I got home from the show, Josh and I went out for Indian food, my reward to myself for getting through a tough week. We ordered butter chicken and saag paneer. The highlight of the meal? Naan bread fresh out of the oven… (food porn alert) it was so fresh, steam actually came out of it when I tore a piece off.

While I ate more than usual this weekend, I didn’t get a chance to balance it out with exercise (seems to be a weekend theme these days). However, I had anticipated not having time to go to the gym this weekend so I got all of my workouts done during the week:
Sunday – BodyPump Express + CXWORX
Monday – BodyStep
Tuesday – BodyPump
Wednesday – Rest
Thursday – SH’BAM
Friday – BodyPump
Saturday – Rest
I wasn’t too impressed with SH’BAM the first time I tried it but I decided to give it another shot last week. I really liked it this time. It was a different teacher and both the choreography and level of intensity were a lot more challenging with her teaching it. This Thursday is a release class so I’m planning to check it out again after work.

I’ll get to try the rest of the new Les Mills releases the week after. Can’t wait!
What are your favourite comfort foods?
How do you avoid going overboard when faced with an endless supply of junk food?

i am all about freebies too, I totally do the same thing. I scope them all out and see what I really want.
I love naan bread. Haven’t had any in ages! But fresh from the oven….mmmmmm…. Sounds amazing. I can’t believe you’re only half way through that crazy work week! Good luck with the next few days. X
