Work is really taking its toll on me. I’ve been going non-stop for twelve days straight now, plus tutoring in the evenings. Consequently, I’ve been in the foulest of moods this week, leaving me totally unmotivated to eat healthy and exercise.
Case in point: I skipped today’s workout and a disproportionate amount of my daily calories this week have come from Halloween candy (Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Creme bars to be specific – man those things are like crack). I’m hoping two days off will help me snap out of it.
On a more positive note, I redeemed one of my new Groupons for hot yoga on Tuesday night. I’m really looking forward to practicing yoga more regularly, especially since work is going to be extra stressful for the next couple of weeks. This Groupon is for 10 hot yoga or pilates classes at iGita Hot Yoga Club. Check out the studio – it is pimped out!

I’ve been to quite a few local studios now and this is by far the nicest facility, plus the service is great. When you arrive to class, there is already a yoga mat, towels and a block laid out for you.
As for the class itself, I did a really nice Hot Hatha class Tuesday night. I actually knew the instructor from another studio and he’s a cool guy – very calm and down to earth. His class moved at a slow, relaxing pace, which is just what I needed, but there were enough challenging poses to make it a good workout. Between hot yoga and new Les Mills releases next week, I’m hoping I can get out of the fitness rut I’m currently in.
My other challenge is to start eating better. It’s not that I’ve been eating too much, it’s just that the quality of what I’ve been eating has been less than stellar, mostly due to lack of planning. I need more vegetables in my life. I’m going to make a real effort next week to plan out my meals and snacks better next week.
No more breakfast for dinner whenever I’m too lazy to cook and no more Halloween candy as a substitute for healthy snacks. And now that it’s in writing, I totally have to follow through with those promises, right?
Here’s to the (desperately needed) weekend!
Any bad habits you’re trying to kick lately?

can i say something hilarious, I already have a post pre planned and set to go in forty minutes that is called cranky pants. are we the same person!
Hey sometimes you just need some time off! Especially after your crazy work schedule, no one can blame you for wanting to eat chocolate and curl up on the couch. I find talking about this stuff on the blog keeps me accountable too! I definitely need to get out of my breakfast for dinner rut too!
I read Alex’s post, too! Cranky Pants Part Two in my blogging world today
My bad habit … I haven’t been to the gym in a week. I’ve been sick, yes, but I really think my body is capable of getting there and I’m using my runny nose as a crutch. My body is itching to be on a treadmill or a bike or ANYTHING. And I’m not listening.
Love the service at that yoga studio! Nice touch with having the mats out already…
