Adventures at Whole Foods

I know a lot of people shop at Whole Foods because they want high quality, organic food.  Not me. I could care less where my meat and produce came from. I probably should, but I don’t. Nevertheless, I love shopping at Whole Foods. Why? Because they give away free samples! Because they carry hundreds of cool products that my grocery store doesn’t stock. Every time I go, it’s like wandering through a food museum with tons of exotic food on display and so many aisles to explore. And the free samples are a nice touch, too.

Today, I went to Whole Foods with my mom to pick up a few ingredients for some recipes I’ll be making next week. First, we stopped for lunch and I piled my plate with… umm, I’m not actually sure. I was so ravenous after this morning’s Body Attack class that I just dumped anything that looked good onto my plate without reading what it was. All I know is there was butternut squash, chickpeas, broccoli and a lot of grainy stuff involved.

In addition to the ingredients I needed, I also picked up a few snacky things for the week: some baba ghanoush spread, almond butter, Tazo tea (remember when they used to sell this at Starbucks? Their new tea is horrible!) and Wasa crackers. I also like to get my produce at Whole Foods if I’m there because it tastes better and isn’t really that much more expensive. Today, I bought blueberries, apples, spinach, broccoli, carrots and bananas. Then we went to Sobeys to shop for our meat with the rest of the plebs!
